As the Executive Director of Recruiting for the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic
regions of the United States, I have my hands full meeting the needs of my
clients and candidates between Virginia and New England. My areas of focus
include Washington, DC, the Tri-State area (New Jersey, New York and Connecticut)
and Boston. I have clients spanning practically every industry imaginable. I have
had the privilege of being on site at the vast majority of my client's corporate
headquarters which has provided me tremendous insight into each of their distinct
cultural cultures.
This is a rough time for the American economy, and many of my clients are tightening their belts and trying to be creative about to stay as profitable as their target goals. Many of my friends in the banking industry and public accounting have lost their audit jobs and are unexpectedly forced to evaluate their next career moves My goal is to do my best to stay in touch with my wide cadre of clients and help as many people as I can to launch their next career moves. It may take some time to kick the economy into high gear again and restore people's confidence levels, but I am confident we can do it. The Lander International team is working extra hard to stay in touch with people and to help in any way we can. The Northeast Team (which I direct) is especially heartened by a recent upswing in the number of new opportunities which have started to come across our desks. Let us hope it becomes a trend for the whole nation.
Before joining the Management Team at Lander International, I worked in the marketing arena for a financial services firm. I seem to have an especial affinity for the diverse financial services institutions located in major hubs like Manhattan, Boston and D.C., but I also appreciate the opportunity to work with global leaders in entertainment/media, retail, consumer goods, pharmaceuticals and manufacturing. My degree in Political Science from the University of California at Berkeley gave me a good educational foundation for understanding corporate cultures and politics, but frankly I think I have learned nearly as much during my travels throughout Western Europe and Southeast Asia. These trips have opened my eyes to different cultures and points of view about business and life.
My knowledge of the business world and the inter-workings of corporate America has grown exponentially and well beyond my expectations since joining Lander at the beginning of 2004. I greatly enjoy my work as it brings with it the chance to meet and speak with people from all walks of life and at every stage of their careers. My philosophy as a recruiter is to build long-term relationships with both candidates and clients. I thoroughly enjoy hearing about how people have made their various career transitions and what strategies they employed. I look forward to discussing a range of opportunities with candidates and helping them evaluate which one is the best fit for achieving their long term career goals.
Outside of my duties at Lander International I enjoy spending as much time outdoors snowboarding, golfing, and camping. I also make it a point to visit my local gym regularly and to get out for a jog 2 to 3 days a week. While at UC Berkeley, I was a member of the Varsity Football team and this experience made me appreciate the importance of physical fitness. In addition to these hobbies, music is also a passion of mine. I am an amateur singer/songwriter and have completed one album of original songs and with plans to add a second album to my musical portfolio in the near future. My calendar is speckled with live musical performances during which I perform as a solo performer or with a 5 to 6 piece band. With such a wide range of interests, I understand the need for living a balanced life with appropriate time for family, friends, and developing a satisfying career.
I welcome the opportunity to speak with you about your career goals, both immediate and long term. Please do not hesitate to call me. I can be reached at 800-548-5318 ext. 21 or via email at jarrett@landerint.com.
Best Regards,
Jarrett Fenlon, CSP
