Michelle Maltzahn As the Manager responsible for Lander International's recruiting team for Texas, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arizona, and Mississippi, I know we have our hands full meeting the hiring needs of a wide range of clients. As I travel throughout my home state (Texas) and the rest of my region, I hear the same questions repeatedly: "Michelle, do you see an upturn in hiring yet? How long do you think the recession will affect audit opportunities?" Of course I am no greater a mind reader than all the writers for the major newspapers, but I do get the opportunity daily to talk to General Auditors in charge of some of America's largest companies. I can say that most of them are still being cautious but they are starting to express more optimism about the future of the economy.

No one that I talk to doubts that the role of the internal auditor is going to greatly expand very shortly. With the failure of controls in major financial institutions and hedge funds, congress is much more aware of the tumultuous effect such laxness has had on the average citizen's retirement portfolios. No one ever wants to see that happen again, and the new legislation and systems of controls that are being discussed will make the auditor's role much more profound.

It is a pleasure to be part of the Lander International management team - a truly dedicated group of professionals who strive for quality placements for both our clients and candidates. Having worked previously in training and education, the field of executive recruiting has allowed me to apply my previous experience in invaluable ways. Growing up in Houston and attending the University of Houston gives me the background to understand the industry and job market expectations in my region.

My background prior to Lander International was retail, telecommunications, and education. As a result, I have been a part of different corporate cultures ranging from established companies to start-ups. I had the responsibility of providing both technical and soft skill trainings to people with diverse backgrounds. I enjoy the teaching and mentoring aspects of recruiting and have seen the positive impact on my candidates' lives when they are well prepared for interviews.

The audit profession is continually evolving and having an increasing role in most companies. I find it exciting to have the opportunity to assist companies and candidate to positively affect their companies. Working with such outstanding individuals who are shaping the dynamic field of audit is truly gratifying.

I would enjoy the opportunity to speak with you regarding your career goals and potential staffing needs. You can reach me at 800-548-5318 Ext. 28 or at michelle@landerint.com.
