Greetings from Jo Lasater

I love being the Director of the Southeast for Lander International because the variety of companies and candidates in the Southeast is so amazing. There are companies with their roots in the South, international companies of every stripe and regional audit groups serving the Caribbean and Latin America. I can't think of another area of the country with such variety. The Southeast has become a home to many international manufacturing companies, banks and other financial services businesses, and, there is a vibrant consulting world to go along with these businesses. There are also auditors from every part of the world, along with many auditors who grew up in and know the area very well. The audit world in the Southeast really just reflects the population there in general.

The Southeast has very proactive and sophisticated audit groups. There are very strong IIA and ISACA groups in this area, which helps spread the latest requirements, trends and audit methodologies. It has been my privilege to meet with many of the people involved in these groups, and they have helped me learn more about the region.

I am a CPA and come from an audit background starting with a Big 8 firm (a long time ago)! I have been a chief audit executive of two large companies and have worked in international finance and accounting. I was also a client of Lander International for over fifteen years. I came to work for Lander International because it is the only search firm I know that really, truly understands audit. It is just amazing how auditing has changed over the years and I enjoy seeing the variety of audit departments as well as the variety of businesses that we serve.

As for me personally, I am originally from the South, and have had the opportunities in my career to live and work internationally several times, including Europe, Japan, Puerto Rico and Miami! Outside of audit, I love art, particularly pop art. I also love dogs and have a very badly behaved beagle. I am fortunate to have friends from all over the world and love to travel as well. The beagle stays at home.
